Hey, I cant really answer your exact question as I havent used one on the ground but I have used one in a tree a few times and found it a really useful bit of kit. your not going to be able to get back leaners over with it but when the weight is dead center when felling out a top or when blocking down larger sections are two situations I found it most useful in as it gives a significant amount of lift and its pretty easy to use.

Used the k&h triple not a bad wedge for the price. Been using hard heads but even they snap. Maybe it's time for hi lift plastic inserts!!

 

hi lift wedges with plastic handles and 2 rings, I had a wooden handle 3 hours from brand new and it shattered in to 6 bits, felling with wedges is a doddle, very accurate and can get the tree over against the way it wants to go with in reason

Are they the hardheads with the metal cap? If so, where did you get them, only seen them in the US?
