uncleaned since stove installed for the winter of 1996, a 4' length of enamalled stove pipe stuffed up the trueflue and surrounded by glass wool.

pulled away today to examine the flue.

Must look at the top end as well.

That really is quite amazing. Even after all these years burning good wood you would still have thought some build up would occur as the fire damps down.

Dats da beauty o a closed in stove, strangle the air intake, for a controlled, by ear, "burn".

As experienced when burning perhaps slightly moist Birch, with lovely residual highly calorific sugary sap, , AND banking the stove up absolutley to refusal at night, and then strangling the draught, so as to burn overnight/leave embers for the morning re-kindle.

Most impressive hearing 10m of 200mm dia flue roar and belch sparks in the dark.

The 4 feet of stove pipe, directly above the stove, glowing dull cherry red was also most impressive:lol:

As witnessed on 3 or 4 occassions.

Good job the first floor is "T" beam and concrete block construction.
