It says what it does on the tin.

Seems lots of people were buying things.

Roughly the same number of exhibitors as last year, but the site was compressed more than '08, which I think was user friendly.

If you're coming for the first or second time, then I'd imagine you'd be suitably impressed.

For me it's a little stale, would like to see an Arb show more about the Big Green leafy things than just being dominated by the equipment.

Tree Biology should be presented more.

There is also a conspicous abscence of the Tree Officer Associations. :confused1:

Having said this, I think I've only missed a couple of the 11 fairs.

I tend to buy some books & kit, Network a little & increasingly socialise with like minded 'Talkers'

Thoughts on the AA Trade Fair??

The bar was pathetic for an event of this size. (a friend of mine recently held a party for his 21 year old daughter, even he managed to organise draught beer!) And £2.50 for a can of larger!!??

This event needs proper organized camping facilities. People are travelling 100’s of miles just to attend this show (with pockets full of cash). I know a lot of Arbtalkers were pretty dispersed in and around Gloucestershire, and many had just stay for the one day because of the lack of facilities.

I know there was trouble last year, which is why there was a lack of camping for the public, but why not make people accountable, make a charge, get names and addresses for each booked camping plot.

Again, the food was below standard. Why is there only one caterer on site? With only one supplier on site they can charge and supply what they like – a little competition would soon sort them out I think.

For me events like this are just as much about meeting people than buying gear. I can buy gear and arrange demos any day of the week, but how often do we get the chance to meet up and enjoy a drink together? When we do – the ‘bar’ is shut!!

I really do feel that the ‘Premier Arb Event of the Year' needs a little more thought and much better facilities.

Rant over.

It would be great to have live bands in the evening and camping, with lots of workshops for the kids, lots of demonstrations, lots of local ales and cider etc etc.

Make it into a family thing that you can spend a relaxed weekend at without rushing around trying to look at everything and try/buy stuff all in a few hours.

Alot more folk would turn up from further away i should imagine.

It would be like an arb festival...

Anyone with me on this?

It was good to catch up with old work colleauges but bit dissapointing overall, by lunch time the only non alcoholic drink left was water but at £1.20 a bottle i decided to dehydrate. Managed to buy some spikes but could have probably got them cheaper on the net. Was hoping to look at some Bandit chippers but they weren't there.

Thanks to all the organisers though, still a nice day.

have to agree with John on the camping pov. If a 2day pass is a tenner, bung on a fiver for camping, encourage people to hang around for the 2 days. Many students cant afford the Travelodges, or the taxi fares to and from the site. come on AA, make this a better show for all!! If the bathurst estate dont want us camping, move site, somewhere in the centre of the country where its more accessible for all.
