TW190 Springs

How often should the springs be replaced, if at all? The machine in question is 7 years old and had daily use. The mechanic who recently worked on it said the springs were quite easy to reinstall and didn't have much resistance. I'm wondering how effective new springs would be in breaking those forks that it would have had no problem breaking when it was new.

The springs aren't very strong when new and so unlikely to be a great deal of difference after changing !!

Feed roller condition would more likely be a a noticeable difference and also the sliding action of the top feed roller!!

Not forgetting the old anvil ! Commonly over looked ( better the chipping better the feed!)

On the 150 at any rate you take off the springs to lift the top roller for access to the blades.

It's a 2 minute job to replace them, I've had two break in 11 years.

It's my opinion they either break or they're fine.

Won't cost a lot to try though.

Like the man said a new anvil or turn over the existing one is always a good move.

The 190 has threaded bar which the bottom of the spring is attached these are often rusted up pretty well !!

And the anvil is non reversible! Unlike the 150

But I would still say the problem is more likely feed roller related!!
