Hi everyone I know logs splitters is a big topic on here.

I have a budget of £1400

I'd like it to be petrol, towable one handed operation and auto reverse ram.

And obviously fast and powerful. Does anyone have any ideas of makes that I could get all this or compromise on some things.

 

Has anyone used the venom 22tonne

You won't find anything with one-handed operation without modifying it.

I have no idea. It's not for commercial use really, but to share between a couple of friends for splitting knotty elm. Other stuff I'd use my screw splitter on.

I have been very impressed having used an Oxdale RT400 video here

A key thing to watch out for is how fast the ram moves since that has a big effect on productivity and this machine has a fast ram. Also the non auto return i.e. you control the up as well as down speeds things up with variable length rings. I split approx 1 cubic metre an hour with this machine, used approx 10 litres of petrol in a day. This is somewhat over the 1,400 budget unless bought 2nd hand, but if nothing else, a good benchmark when looking at ram speed. It has a Honda 6.5hp engine so that should last a long time. This machine is a lot faster than any of the electric log splitters which I have used.

Oh ok so it has to be two handed to meet standards. Has anyone else heard anything on this machine ?

The web site says it is road legal as long as you put a light board on it.
