Re: Welcome new members

Hi
I am an urban timber hugger and social entrepreneur supporting disabled people to work using parks and wood. Would love to do tree work but knackered back wont allow.

Re: Welcome new members

Have you any idea about whats happening with CS32 and 33 i've heard that if you have CS32 it now doesn't just cover medium trees it know covers large trees and anyone who has CS33 can get it changed to CS49 specialist tree felling.
appreciate any comments

Re: Welcome new members

Hi all.

I've been lurking for a while and thought I'd take the plunge and register, so thanks for letting me join. Been into firewood for about 5 years and we had our best year 2009/2010. Trying to grow all the time whilst still supplying the best quality we can.

Cheers.

Paul.

A bit more competition yes. But most are fly-by-nights; come and go and dont stick at it. I think they realise very quickly how much time and effort and kit it takes and get disalusioned very quickly. There are few big concerns that have been set up for years round us and some sell quality and some dont.

There has been quite a lot of chat on here about the amount of people setting up firewood businesses recently. Think you are right about them not realising quite how hard it is to make a decent profit.

Re: Welcome new members

Evening,

A quick intro to my good self.

My name is Ash, I'm 25 and I'm nearing the end of my first year at Houghall college doing the ND in forestry and arb.

I love the course and love the practical work.

I hope to work for the Forestry Commission and am trying to get work experience placement with them over this summer holiday.

Ive got me CS38 and PA1 and PA6, should have me CS30 and 31 by the end of this month.

I hope to get involved in any meetings going on, meet new folk and learn new things. I would like to get good carving with a chainsaw so if anyone fancies showing me their skills I'm willing to learn!

Ash
