Just got new CAP reform book .

Not only no trimming of hedges 1 march till 31 august 2015 but this will apply to trees from 2015 . wander if it will affect the main of arb members or supply of harvested wood for logs etc.:confused1:

Can't imagine why it should, unless the organisation or area of operation is drawing down funding from CAP or HLS?? What book is it?? Sounds like it's worth a read!

The building trade or the powers that be have become aware of bird nesting being 1st march - 31st August which has caused us some headaches this year on site clearance work, but have got round it by either having an ecologist on site or visual inspection of trees/shrubs for nesting birds as we work through and marking off areas where birds are nesting with barrier tape and leaving those areas until they have finished nesting.

OK slightly badly phrased on my part, they are more aware nowadays I think due to them having to show their eco credentials, ripping out of standing trees with diggers is a big no no for most of them now, they have to be felled and dealt with by an arborist and or inspected by an ecologist first.

Yes,yes! Fair one!! There's that which 'should' happen, and that which 'actually' happens!! With the best will in the world, sometimes a tree comes down and you only see the nest when it's too late.
