The one downside is that they don't draw enough current to put the trailer indicator light on on your dash, so you don't know if they are plugged in or not. Having said that they are much brighter and maintenance free. I'd recommend them.

I have led trailer lights and was wondering why the dash trailer lights wernt working?? Thanks for the heads up. Is there a way to sort that?

I have fitted several of the 'hamburger' euro type lights to trailers and lorries over the years. And as previously stated an led doesnt have any resistance as its a diode and not a filament and again a ballast resitor is the way forward.

However from experience i have found that the big black resistor packs supplied with many of these lights are poor quality and fail within a twelve month, i prefer to use a really basic standard 6 ohm resistor (from rs) which cost pence and simply solder them between the lives and earth of the circuits with led. However it is advisable to mount them to something metal to form a heat sink but have done several mounted to plastic with no troubles.
