with the 3d perspective im not 100% sure it looks right centre page...im thinking about maybe running it on the left of the page then on the far right having 2 small banners one on top of the other for the classifieds and trade directory

The lettering is great, have you looked at it on a lighter background to improve the contrast? How about a centre perspective with a lower point of view?

The move across to the left and more in the top right corner might make it look too busy, hey suck it and see ( or is it apita to trial these things?)

looks good... i think it may look better looking at it more form the front so it looks a bit less 3D

Maybe try and play around with the font, a couple of quick changes and it might become clear what missing.
