A friend of mine runs all his saws on vegetable oil - my thoughs were that this would be far too thin and would cause problems but he says he has had no problems at all and has been doing it for over a year. This method is very cheap, but something is still stopping me - anyone else tried this, or have any opinions?

I was going to say, that seemed a bit cheap for Bio chain oil - we've got our own brand SuperTack Bio oil which is available in 205 litre drums for £297.25 + VAT if that's of any interest?

It's what most of the harvester guys we deal with have been using for the past couple of years and they all seem pretty happy with it.
