Todays Job

Todays job was not arb but it was outside all day in the fresh air (cough cough).

I was helping a farmer friend to burn the heather & gorse on a 56 acre plot next to a Tillhill plot. The other edges were "safe" but we had to watch for it getting out of hand on the forest side. In the end it burnt slowly on that edge & then move away up the hill.

It got quite cold & windy around lunch time but picked up after.

it looks like youv just burnt the hole hill :sneaky2:

not really ideal managment for a health ecosystem :001_smile:

Prob less than 30% burnt in sections spaced out. Those pics are a small section of the 56 acres. Its not been done for about 10 years (previous owners for the most part & weather conditions for the last few years) so is well over due. Its an accepted standard management method.
