i have a htc tytnII which has onboard gps, and will run any windows mobile mapping package, although the only compromise is a small screen for viewing the maps on, something like a cheap ipaq with GPS onboard would be a better option and wont go flat as quick as a gps phone will

I would double check that the phone has GPS IE Global Positioning SATELLITE tech in it.

Cos when I was looking at phones before xmas they were all sold as having GPS but when questioned was told that none actually had GPS but used the phone masts to work out were you are. Now thats ok in a town or city but round here there is ONE mast so you could be anywhere in a 15 mile radius.

Oh & it was a cost upgrade on top of the contract cost to use the system too.
