2-stroke generator problem

Genny wont start up, checked the usual for a 2-stroke, but Im sure the linkage from the throttle to rev it is missing a spring, but tbh I cant tell without pulling the whole thing to bits. From the top of the carb there is a threaded bolt, which is loose, the throttle lever is there but doest seem to work the rest of the linkage. Its only a cheapie, so i dont want to waste too much time on it, but it would be handy fr logging up in poor light.

The loose threaded bolt runs vertically, its not the ones that hold the carb on, and those are tight. This bolt comes out of the top of the carb, looks like it may be a control for the throttle, but there is no nut on the bolt, and if there should be a spring thats missing too. I'll have to get a pic of it when its daylight, may be more helpful:001_smile:

Sounds like a Briggs and Stratton carb by your description.?

briggs only do a 4 stroke engine... unless its a vintage one?

andy it sounds like the Governor Spring–(Throttle Return) is missing or jammed..

take the air filter off, and try moving the throttle return with your finger whilst trying to start it..
