So.........with the world record standing at 653,143 trees planted in a single hour, and with 286,307 trees having been pledged pre-plant today, only trime will tell if we get a new record.

My little planting team managed 2 Hazels, 2 Hawthorns, 2 Rowans & 2 Field maples before the draw of scrambling round an Oak took hold of them.

Any one else get involved?

I'm off upto Heartwood on Monday to have a look around & see the 20,326 that were planted there this morning :thumbup1:

Spent a very interesting morning up at Heartwood in the company of John Tucker, Woodland Trusts Operational Director - England.

Hadn't as yet been up to the site, although it's really only 20 miles up the road :blushing:

The vision is a looooong way off, but well under way. Currently three small woods linked by arable which is still going to be worked in the short term, whilst the planting steadily grows.

From what I saw, the program got a really good boost with the treeoclock event, a week down the road and there was a school party busily planting more trees.

Nick Eden may have weight in his message being sent out through his "Tet-a-tet" with Auntie, but he can't be anything other than impressed by the enthusiasm, at work up at Sandridge.

Had a chat with John around mycorrhyza and standing deadwood, and the possibility of linking WT & CoL officers.

Worth a trip if your in the vicinity, I'll be going back with my two younguns to carry on the planting.
