Honest Countries/Areas

TRADITIONAL LOGGERS

In this area of Telemark children leave bicycles beside the school bus stops, forest workers chainsaws/fuel in the wood, vehicles running outside the shops in wintertime, eggs/firewood and farm produce beside main roads to purchase with honest box and houses unlocked with NO problems from thieves at all.

Wish that had been the same over last 20 years in Derbyshire.

Is it the same in other European countries?

Depends very much on the locality. The more rural, the more laid back, generally, but not always. Proximity to certain "problem" towns, or communities on mojor roads, and vigilance goes up. Rural Ireland, bicycles - yes, cars running - yes, chainsaws - no, houses unlocked - no. Farm produce honesty boxes - yes, but uncommon.
