Fungi ID on Silver maple

I would imagine that it's a saprophyte.

 

I've only ever noted it on dead logs or exposed wood from historic tear outs.

 

Others may have differing experience.

David, do you have any experience of this one occurring on other Maple species, like Sycamore or Norway Maple?

I don't Jules, but I believe kveldesvanger has noted it on sycamore. I'm sure he'll be along later to comment.

 

 

I've only noted it from beech
