Identify Fungi

What is this fungus - I am told that a person has recently planted a 'instant' beech hedge, and a few months later this has popped up all the way along beneath the trees! Looks a little like jelly ear, but has a white almost scaly coat on the bottom side. the largest on photographed measure about 40mm across.

Any ideas?:confused1:

Not entirely sure, but would look at the cup fungi, something like

Paxina leucomelas.

May even be desiccated Sarcoscypha

Possible that it's come with the trees from the nursery.

Thanks David, yes it has a similar shape -I will find out if they were ever red in colour. The trees were imported from Denmark, I'll find out if any woodchip has been used also.

Cheers
