Was looking at a 7.8mtr girth Ancient Oakthe other day and this bracket was laying on the floor inside the hollow stem.

Pretty sure it's the Oak Polypore.?? The ones i have seen before have fruited alot earlier in the year however.

Any thoughts David, Anthony, others?

Also what is the procedure for recording Red Data List species?

Thanks

I've been caught out with oak polypore before, thinking I had found it at a new site only for it to be confirmed at Kew as Laetiporus :blushing:

Yours (although heavily dessicated) looks to be a decent shout for Op but I would send it off for confirmation.

What's the site?

Any other records for it there?

Contact at Kew is Martin Ainsworth

for comparison here's an open one showing the flesh and pore layer from Staverton Park.......

the flesh is discoloured (due to air contact) and would have been lighter
