Padlock and chain advice.

I'm after a padlock and chain combo for a bit of kit.

Prices seem to vary from £15 to several hundred.

I want something decent enough to withstand most hand tools, but don't see the point of spending a fortune 'cos if they rock up with hot gear they'll have it anyway.

It will also be insured, concealed, alarmed and not far from some dogs and a grouchy farmer with a shotgun.

Ebay. I got padlock like this Container Garage Shed Shutter Chain padlock heavy duty high security | eBay . It can't be opened or closed without a key in it. £20.

Then there's stacks of chain on there too; I think I paid about a tenner for a length of chunky stuff a third of an inch thick.

I agree with your thinking; if they're determined enough you're not going to keep 'em out. The best you can do is delay them and then maybe they'll get bored and go away.

I've got that lock on my stumpy mate, good bit of kit.

Could do with the combo really.
