Know your speed limits !!!!

Hi all,

 

Been driving for about 25+ years now and thought i was fairly good.

For 25 of the above i've had my HGV ticket too.

 

Traveling North bound on the A1 last Sunday in the chip truck got flashed by a stationary camera.

 

Not a problem i thought, under 70 so ok. (actually doing 68)

 

WRONG !!!!

 

Apparently, the speed limit for a sub 7.5 ton vehicle on a dual carriage way is 60 !!!

 

Either its changed recently or i've been speeding daily for the last 20 odd years

 

Luckily the camera was behind so i'll be trying to blag off on the points

Yeah, some Gatso can tell the difference between cars and hgvs, I got done several years ago doing 45 in the lorry on a single carriageway a road national speed limit.

Never been flashed doing those sort of speeds on a dual carrigeway.... hmmmmm

For a goods vehicle not towing, weighing over 2 tonnes upto 7.5 tonnes. Speed limits are 50 single carriageway 60 dual and 70 Motorway.

How about a dual carriage way with fixed central reservation Is it 60 or 70

It shouldn't make a difference what vehicle your in, I seriously don't think the stationary cameras can differentiate between vehicles other wise all hgv drivers would constantly be getting done for speeding as the speed limit for them on a single carriageway is 40 and I have never seen one flashed at 56
