Sawhorses - some new improvements

about time cough!

 

The makita style one seems good but you have to adjust the swingy bit for log size which is fiddly and not very slick. These two; "SawJaw" and "Timber Croc" seem like a breath of fresh air in this respect...

Agree with the points mentioned in the tcf video. Reduced back ache, quicker, saves chain fouling etc. I have an oregon sawhorse which is similar to the tcf. Except the locking bar is more floppy which looks to give better hold on the the top logs. Sometimes the logs can spin if light and the tcf will be more prone to spinning.

Reasonable price for strength of product though.

 

I also have a forest master sawhorse which I reckon surpasses all these in strength and takes a real heavy log. The timber croc iooks quicker to load than forest master.

I did not like the idea of having to adjust the jaw for different sized logs on the cantilever type saw horses so I made my own in wood. The timber crock does look like a good improvement.

Like the look of the Timber Croc, will have to investigate that more, seem to be getting a fair bit of cord upto 10" diameter coming through at the moment so something like that could be very handy.

 

But all of them and Woodworks idea are all big improvements on the traditional horse imo. Like the way your one works Woodworks, have never seen one like that before, where did you get the idea for that?

My own design. I did think about trying to make some to sell but the sawhorses already on the market are pretty good and too cheap to compete with.

I've got the "SawJaw" - will update as haven't used it much but it seems very easy to use so far.

Think I'll stick to my Oregon Easy saw horse. As said the last one of those is basically the same thing.

 

Only problem I find sometimes with these multi log saw horses is that occasionally as you cut through, the stack will drop mid cut and you sometimes end up clipping the metal uprights because of it... one person on the saw horse and one person splitting can be fairly productive.
