Sappie, timber pick or picker-roonie take your pick!

Recommended Posts

Does any one use them? Bought one a while ago at the west of England show. Saves your back, easy to move timber on sacks with, sliding timber to processor or simply picking up small logs. Off to get a longer one! Oh and it's great at picking of the rats in the log pile! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1320585792.305028.jpg.c22cbf1b9ddeaa7750a7a8a7e4147b64.jpg

I've got the small Oregon one and it's almost great. It's probably me but I find the point's ground to the wrong angle: you need to have your hand below the pick end for the point to dig in, which means that the thing's OK if you only want the point to bite less than 18" from your end of the log. I've improved things somewhat though with an angle grinder.

Admittedly it was the cheaper of the two on show (Stihl being the other one) but I trusted the brand.

Moaning apart though it's good value at £18 odd.

I've a small stihl one and a larger one. The small one is ace on the processor and the longer for getting it to the processor. I'm looking for one with a heavy head/ sledge head as well then it' be a great felling tool- rolling, dragging and driving wedges all in one.
