Stihl MS230 C - new carb issue - no connection for priming pipe!

Hello,

 

I've a 2002 ms230c that I use for odd jobs. I bought a new carb but there is no connection on it for a pipe that runs from priming bulb. Original had small connection on carb body near H and L screws.

 

When primed just sucks air as I expected. Saw starts but I'm concerned I can't suss this problem with the unattached pipe.

 

Any help appreciated as always!

If its the right carb then maybe it should have the same pipe connection for the primmer line. Worth checking out maybe. WT-215 and WT-286A I think are 2 that were used . WT-286 was for easy start model ..primmer bulb i would guess.

My original is WT 286A with the two connections. I cannot seem to find much info on the difference

Thanks. So it might not be as easy to start but will be ok with other pipe unconnected?

 

I wouldn't go that rout personally…You really would be better off with a direct like for like substitute. You have the carb off your saw that has the part number on it so you should be able to order a duplicate…Or carb kit to service your original unless its damaged .

It will work fine without the primer connected, just may need a few more pulls to start it as the internal fuel pump in the carb will have to prime it using impulse from the crankcase. It may be as well to remove the primer bulb to save confusion and seal the pipe which returns from the primer to the tank.

 

Or get the proper carb.
