HI all, I'm looking for your opinions, and I'm sure I'll get it.

I had this lowering device made for myself, by a professional fabricator. It works very well and is very simple in design. So then I had the thought of having some made to sell. The pics are of the one I have and use now but I am fortunate enough to have a very good friend who is a great engineer and he helping me with a few tweeks for any future ones. The selling price would be in the £120-£150 range with straps. We have not had any load tested yet but my in my friends opinion it would take around 5 tonne to make the device fail, with a safety factor of 5:1 this could potentially lower a 1 tonne. I Just wanted to get some initial feed back from you guys before I go any further,:001_smile: Thanks and be kind.

Is that powder coated? If so it will burn off once used in anger, I made a bollard and got it coated it comes off. Zinc coating is the way to go, get the back plate slightly curved as it straps to the tree better also weld the tube closer to the bottom of the plate so the force gets pushed into the tree rather than up towards the canopy. See a Hobbs. Grcs for examples of where the bollard is mounted on the backplate. Good luck with it.
