Stihl Ms 441 c-m

Hi

 

Can anyone advise how good the Stihl Ms 441 c-m is I'm thinking of buying this chainsaw but don't know much

I've had one for about 4 years, always been good, I drain tank and run it till carb empty if not using it for a while. Quite gutsy, mine on 18" bar, probably fine on a 24". Unless you cut big trees often probably don't need the 661

We run an old 441 on a 20" bar and cuts pretty well. Although recently bought a new 461, heard they are worth the extra money, not used it much yet however.

Because of the computer in it, its advised NOT to do snedding work with it. Just big wood.

 

Otherwise, very happy with it, no problems with it til now

ArborClimber, can you expand on that please? Im interested in your thought as I have recently bought the 201-C (m-tronic) and I use it primarily for snedding, blipping the throttle all over the place, and I noticed today that is cut out a couple of times. I didn't realise it was m-tronic until after I got home.

You were probably advised to set up the carb buy running it through bigger bits of wood.

If not then you been told a load of tosh.

 

Btw the 461 is the better saw to go for

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping! And I think ur probably right, I mean especially with the climbing saws, if you couldn't run them for snedding what would the world come to?

I agree, mister CJM, that is not something I would either believe, especially as I have used it for everything. Hence the reason why I chose the word "advised"...

 

I brought the same question up with the stihl dealer that we deal with, as I also have the 201tc since last xmas, and use it for everything, big timber, climbing, snedding etc, etc. His answer was (translated) " it's a different computer that they have developed, especially for this saw". Funnily enough, he did say to me after I asked that "if you use it mostly for big wood anyway (which I do, because its heavier than a 201) then shouldnt be a problem". Needless to say, I didnt listen to this dealer much after that, and he has since lost his job, for reasons unknown to myself

 

The computer supposedly resets itself each time you touch the trigger, so I have been told, and wether that has a bearing on anything, I have yet to experience it, as mine runs fine since I got it, no problems at all. I run a 20 inch bar on it, with the dogs on both sides of the bar as I find it useful when doing a dismantle.

 

Hope that cleared up a bit.

 

P.s, my workmate has the 461, and i would agree with mister CJM, I would rather have that if I had the option to choose again

I have one and run a 24inch bar on it. Fantastic saw, although if I had to buy a new saw of its size I would probably go Husqvarna 390.
