ID help please

Can anyone help identify this tree/shrub. All my ident books are packed away in storage whist we have our house renovated and its annoying me because I recognise it and have trawled the internet but can't put a name to it.

 

Apologies for the poor quality photos! This has an abundance of red berries according to the owner that the birds love.

I am inclined to agree, though a better leaf shot would be preferable.

 

BL c'spur (C. persimilis 'Prunifolia') has very small thorns up to 2cm, I believe. The normal C. crus-galli has much larger ones.

Been back in the dry and taken some more photos of the leaves and fruit. I am now thinking the bark and fruit look hawthorn like ??!!

The bark does look Hawthorn but the leaves are nothing like . Similar to thornless Cockspur Hawthorn though ....
