I heard second hand from someone who knows someone involved that it had lost momentum before it even got going. Destined to never be looked at again kinda thing.

Make of that what you like...

Really useful:lol:

From what I've read I'm forming an opinion that their are just too many vested interests involved, each with different agendas and aims, for something like that to ever move forwards.

I seem to remember that it got on the wrong side of some popular press. There was an assumption that every tree owner would need to employ a competent Arb regularly to inspect their trees and that this financial burden would lead to pre-emptive felling. It even got discussed on the Jeremy Vine show - you can imagine the tone of that!

I can't actually recollect whether this assumption had any relevance to the document but I've got a copy of the draft somewhere if you want a copy.

It got on the wrong side of practically everyone, and their dog, the RSPB, CLA, the Risk and Regulation Advisory Council in particular and even some of the members of the NTSG.

The draft document was afterall just that, a draft. But it was a start and I can't see so much wrong with it -that it couldn't have been released after revision.

I'm just doing some reading on different 'controversies' in tree risk management and came across reference to the draft (which I've got thanks) and a rather good article in the Arb Journal By Mick Boddy.
