Buying Saws In NZ?

Hi All,

 

I'm moving over to New Zealand very soon from the UK and have recently been comparing prices of Chainsaws. I have found that in NZ they are pricing most saws up to £200 plus compared to the UK. Does anyone have any good stores they would recommend in NZ or would people recommend buying while I'm still in the UK?

Not sure if the extra cost of purchase in NZ won't be offset by the cost of import duty and the like when you bring saws into NZ. A lot of forestry students flog their saws off cheap either to Stihl shop or on http://www.trademe.co.nz one they give up on their courses when they release it's harder work than sitting on your backside claiming benefit.

Why do you need to bring or buy saws anyway? Are you considering setting up on your own here?

Thanks for your information about looking at second hand saws. The reason for wanting to bring in my own saw cause I am looking to keep my hand in the business on weekends and leave periods. Basically I will be on a six year contract in the NZ Army and after that period I'm looking to starting up my own business. So having my own saws it will make it easier to employ part time.
