i have a robin hs250 hedge trimmer with a wee problem. when flat it starts and runs like a champ but when the blades are elevated, vertically above the engine when cutting the face of a hedge the engine runs down to a halt. it then takes a good few tugs on the starter cord to fire up again. Can anybody offer a spot of advice on how i can try and sort it before the expense of taking it to be repaired.........thanks in advance guys.......chris.:001_smile:

If all hedges were flat and horizontal ide be laughing :laugh1:

cheers.....no blockage in fuel lines and filter is free to drop into the lowest point in the tank

Then my next move would be to clean, and re-kit tbe carb. I suspect that the pump diaphragm is damaged or distorted.

So, as peatff says, the fuel is gravity feeding, but not being pumped up when the carb is higher than the tank.
