Street tree ID from Hammersmith

Morning guys

 

This may well be an easy one for those of you who have been here for a while but I'm newly off the plane from a 5 year stint in Oz and I'm slowly getting back into our trees!

 

Its a street tree from the Hammersmith area, I'm leaning towards Turkish hazel but I will happily bow to your collective wisdom!

looking at it again i think u could be spot on with the turkisk hazel no catkins on it ?

You are right with Corrylus colurna..Turkish hazel.

shame its been mullarded,and no longer has its lovely pyramidal form.

...You know what, you are absolutely right. Ive just checked google earth and there is a picture in the summer. Thanks for that, it didnt say lime to me at all when I was on site, role on spring!

 

Excellent idea!I wouldnt have thought of using google earth for that reason!nice one.For me personally,the bark is a give away for Turkish hazel...must consider
