ms231 C-BE - chain tension

I have a ms231 c-be (tool less chain tensioner) 16" bar 3/8P chain. Its not causing a problem as such but the chain seems to tighten slightly when used from cold which was against my perceived wisdom of a chain slackening as it heats up? Also I'm not a fan of the tool less tensioner - can it be converted to the standard side tensioning?

i have the husky 235 tool less, i would to convert back if i could

 

can never seem to get it tight enough, but when i do, its a little bugger to undo for cleaning

Its easy to convert, you need a bar stud, chain adjuster and a side cover. Should be about £35 new stihl parts or about £15 second hand ebay parts.

 

Sorry read it as an MS230 not MS231, should still be able to do it but you wont need the bar stud.

Many thanks for the info, much appreciated. I will have a go at converting it back to the normal side tension set up. I am still at a loss though as to why the chain seems to tighten as it gets hot - not a great deal but definitely noticeable?
