Okay.. what kind of tree ?? I live in Florida between Tampa Bay and Ocala.. I think it is a Laurel Oak ???CAM02317.jpgCAM02318.jpg

:confused1:CAM02296.jpg it gets a smooth patch with almost looks like mold it is not powdery but hard. first photos are healthy tree last photos of bark are of Tree which is dying. Help help help !!!

Sorry new at these forums and chats, don't kill me. I love the trees on my property. This one has passed for sure and will have to come down. There are several 10 to 15 of them all in the same area, afraid of spreading whatever happened to this one. As for the explanation and question marks... just me.. scared of proper punctuation.. and so I ... and !!! and ??? everytime I write.... guess I should have stayed awake in English class a lil better !!! oops.

 

I am going to look up Hornbeam. Hope its not contagious.
