What steel for a custom splitter blade?

I want to make an extra splitter blade for my processor. It is very simple as just a single blade for 2 way or no way for the smallest stuff. I have had a search on here and I saw Hardox mentioned as possibly suitable but where could I get a small piece or another suitable steel. Thanks

Leaf spring? Good steel for froes so may do the job.

Find someone who refurbs digger buckets and get an offcut of the boron steel they use to edge buckets

 

Its ground engaging so its strong and it wears well (good Boron content)

 

It already has one bevel edge, take it to a machine shop and get them to bevel the other side to a point.

I used an old silage chopper blade, your local agricultural contractor will have used ones lying around, already sharp and tough!

Yes did try them but the only thing they suggested was some tool steel which I presume would be too brittle.

AS ALREADY MENTIONED

any wearplate from a excavator bucket or hardox will suit but never tried welding leaf spring steel may req pre heat first to take the boing out of it lol then a low hydrogen 7013 rod or just use a decent mig weld as thats low hydrogen
