I'd recommend going for a 13mm for your first rope. Yale XTC's pretty bomb proof, New England Hi V is ok too. As you get more experience, and perhaps start looking at mechanical devices and advanced climbing techniques then you may want to go thinner. And 37meters length is fine for most trees your likely to tackle using DdRT as a new climber, I wouldn't bother with anything longer just yet. A spliced termination with it makes sense too.

Have fun.

Climbing rope is pretty much climbing, if its your first I would not get to hung up on which one, as long as its a suitable rope from a well known brand, Yale, New England, Samson, Elderid or Marlow to name a few will all be fine first choices.

13mm may be better to start out on as its thicker and easier to hold, 11.7mm is lighter something you may notice if you do big trees its mostly the tail drag you feel as the rest of the line is supported by the tree.

It's your first line so just climb on it until your confident and found what kinda of prima Donna climber you will be and then choose a suitably fashionable line.
