ART Cocoon vs. ART Link pulley?? noticeable difference?

Hi everyone,

Eyeing up a Rope Guide at present, just wondering if anyone feels that there is a noticeable difference between the two pulleys? I'm on a HC at the mo so any difference wouldnt matter too much at present, but I will probably go ZZ when mk2 appears.

The standard link-ropeguide is already gunna sting my bank account, let alone the more expensive cocoon one.

Would make my own pulley saver with pinto rig, or buy one of Centrals devices, but I might be working for a meticulous company soon so it will need a CE if I get the job.

Cheers!

There is no difference in the internal size of a link one and cocoon I don't think. Literally the link one is a cocoon on a diet, it's the same dimensions, same bend ratio on the rope, looks like the same pulley wheel. Don't get me wrong, I love the cocoon, it's a great piece of engineering but I have no idea why you'd want it's extra features in a rope guide. I have a rope guide with link one and it always retrieves.

If you want the shiniest one though, get the cocoon.

Sent using my pudgy fingers on my phone.

The link is probably the best pulley, robust and easy to maintain and monitor.

The Tuelfelburger pulley saver with rig is slightly better because its pulley is even larger a bigger radius is more efficient, just ditch the ice axe clip that come with it!

The cocoon is sexy that's all, its more prone to breakage on hard retrieval, the sides can be worn to a razor edge by the rope, the bend radius it puts on the prussik is severe but probably not an issue.

Get a link its far better for commercial climbing.

Hard retrieval ? that sounds pretty bad for any equipment .

cocoon 3 and 4 are really nice and a have a more robust feel then the 2.

I prefer the cocoon as it is more streamlined ,of course its about placement of friction device but I'm a fan over the link and i have tried both.

So your telling me if you have 40 trees to do in a week you will retrieve it with a throw line every time?

I understand the bend radius in the coccoon was why it was upgraded
