Have just completed my accounts for the last financial year whilst rocking/mellowing out to the above.

Ready to go for the first time ever. The accountant will have a heart attack when he checks his inbox tomorrrow :lol:

But seriously, how good were ABBA? I'm WAAYYY too young but they have to be in the top ten greatest groups ever:thumbup:

Up there with Fleetwood Mac, Dire Straits and the Eagles.

No! Just no! :sneaky2::laugh1:

Like almost all popular music, ABBA are an acoustic abomination and written with infantile simplicity and obvious hooks. All the sophistication of Coronation Street!

Chopin for the win! :thumbup1:

Dont be hard on ABBA just coz you are a classical purist

At least they wrote their own music and the chicks were good singers (the brunett the best) :thumbup1:

I do respect singer/songerwriters in that regard, but if you are going to go to the effort of writing your own music, why not write something good? It's depressing that there isn't really much that is popular these days that has any music merit. Not to say that wonderful music isn't being written, only that Joe Blogs chooses to listen to Radio 1 and the same 3 chords/notes/oh baby baby's being repeated ad infinitum! :laugh1:

Who says it wasn't good? It is my generation and I it like it so by extension I have poor taste in music?

It cant all be about "serious" music, I like classical music but you can't bop the night away to Vivaldi. ABBA on the other hand is a sure fire floor filler.

Agree with you re Radio 1- can't stand it. However those of us who can't stand it usually tune into Radio 2, where ABBA is a staple. How old are you again? :lol:

Sorry bud only kidding! Each to their own, the world would be a dull place if we were all the same.

You pure classical or are you into anything else?

I'm 28, but always liked classical. My grandmother taught piano and it's always been present. Really like punk (not 77 punk, but the stuff that followed. Much of it was written for the right reasons, and it's a great form of musical expression).

I'd say you can bop away to classical - try this (Chopin's 'Butterfly' study):

Loved Offspring when I first got into punk, and then moved more into the UK scene but I'm years out of it now. Cracking song:

Thing I really liked about Offspring is that they really just wrote music for the love it. They put their entire discography online for free, and gave a million dollars away by a lucky ticket in one of their albums. Top chaps.
