Transit with Hiab

Seriously thinking of buying a transit with Hiab, similar the one in the picture. It's for picking up the odd bit of cord and delivering logs. I'm only buying to save the wear and tare on my back. The other option I have is to buy a tipper and fit a small timber grab like the Riko ones. Not worried about amount of cord you can get on a transit because every little helps, more worried about my back. Anyone got one? This one is run of the engine. Got about 10k to spend.

I wrecked my first transit after buying a skidsteer and loading it with big chunks of dead elm, about the size of barrels. That was just loading in the back and pushing them forward.

You can get a folding tail lift that let's you tip aswell . Not much money compared to a hiab.

After yrs of wrestling trailers I decided to put an engine under the rubbish. Tips as well as lifts Del Slim Jim. Takes 500kg i.e. ride on mowers, trees, brash, nice big step! I did think of a Hiab or one of the small electric winches but got annoyed when the salesman said I would have to "drill holes" in my mowers to attach the lifting cables.

Hi pal, I have one of these exact same as picture but a single cab. Same hiab on same side. Will lift a tonne close in, about 300-400kg full reach. Great bit of kit, I replaced a transit tipper as I used to sell loose logs but now sell by the cubic metre bag. Can get 5 bags on at a bit of a squeeze, 4 comfortably. However, I got taken to the weigh bridge by the cops a few weeks ago with 5 softwood on and weighed 4100kg. Logs were 25%mc but had been raining overnight. Would get away with 4, still overweight but allowed 10%. Green hardwood kills it I'm afraid! I reckon the payload is slightly over a tonne but will need to check again at the bridge.
