Work in Cambridge

Hi. I may be relocating to Cambridge if my girlfriend gets this job she´s after. I don´t know anything about the place. Is there much work around there? What´s the climate like compared to the wet north west?

 

My head´s spinning!

The trees are tiny, lots of willows, poplars, and leylandii, and its very flat compared to the north west.

 

Weather is great though, it never rains! (Well, almost never)

 

I moved down here from Manchester 4 years ago, for the same reason as you.

When I first started working down here I would put my waterproofs in the truck every day regardless, the other lads hardly ever bothered in summer unless it was actually raining. They didnt believe me when I said that up north it rained a couple of times a week even in summer, with little or no warning....

 

I still wont leave the yard without waterproofs though......

Peter, do you know where is the most affordable place around cambridge to rent? Need somewhere with good transport connections to the city.

South of cambridge is saffron walden good place to rent with good links to the city.

Is ur gf going to work in the city

Fenstanton stives are good place

Most the places round Cambs have a good bus network

And depending where u go the train network is good

Ur right on the door step of the east coast mainline

Take it ur looking for a job in tree work

There are quite a few big/ biggish company's round Cambs

Depends where in Cambridge really, my missus works at Addenbrookes, so we started off looking around that side of town and surrounding villages but that is a fairly expensive area.

 

We ended up near Ely, about 10 miles north of Cambridge, but the train into town only takes about 15 minutes, so its not a silly option.
