Yes the uk has gone mad, alot of people have run out of seasoned firewood. I have an insistent customer that I delivered some soaking poplar too today. It had a good variety of fungi on the lot.

I told her a month ago I had run out. She keeps telling me to bring more wood, she can burn anything, hopefully the poplar will educate. I do tell people no seasoned wood available. Many listen.

Whilst they are feeling the cold people are obsessed with firewood, come the warmer longer days ofspring very few think to stock up for next season. Our ancestors were diserning and shrewd. Nowadays due no instant gratification, yes I think they are mad

In this wet winter I have been sending logs out at 18-20% with an odd one a bit higher. I have therefore been experimenting with my showroom stove burning pop at 25%-35%. It can be done and looks ok, it just takes a lot more air than usually applied and you need to keep stoking as soon have you have room to get more fuel in as opposed to when its burnt down.
