    • Store it and sell it to biomass companies
    • Store it and sell it yourself
    • Give it away to who ever will take it that day
    • Give it away to one or two specific places (e.g. menage)
    • Pay to dispose of it

What do you do with your woodchip?

 

There is plenty of talk about logs but what about the chip? What do you see as being the most econimical route of disposal of this waste or do you see this as a cash crop product?

 

Personally for the last 2 years I have been storing it in my yard and calling Stobarts in to remove it. Payment for the chip has been covering the cost of loading but not much more and it generally means a missed hour or two of work to sort the loading. Before this I had a deal with a farmer who would dispose of the chip in exchange for as many logs as he could personally use. The odd load goes to allotments for a few quid but not much and it tends to be a pain in the rear end.
