Hello there, i recently joined the website and wondered if someone could answer my query. I'm extremely interested in getting involved in Arboriculture but don't know the best way to do it. Im 23 and have my basic chainsaw tickets; maintenance, small tree felling and wood-chipping. If someone could be a wee shove in the right direction i would be incredibly grateful.

Thanks,

Toast

Hi Toast and welcome to Arb Talk. Where are you based? It may be best getting in contact with a collage or Uni that offer Arb dergree, also ring round local Arb companys and try to get your foot in the door, that's what I would do. I often get letters of people wanting jobs, and I have taken a couple of lads on in the past from their letters. Good luck.

Hello Hodge, thankyou very much. Updated my profile now. Im based in Edinburgh. I'll have look around local businesses and send of some letters. Would you suggest getting some academic education then if im to make my way in? Also, congratulations on the league win. Newcastle weren't quite so successful.

Newcastle did all right mate as it was only a couple of seasons since you were in the championship so you are progressing, we have been down there and come back up and thanks to investment we are where we are, keep the faith mate. Anyway, you should look into getting academic quals, there maybe grants available and such like, there are quite a few on here from up your way who may be able to help. Try barony college near Dumfries for the Arb info.
