Sweet chestnut and sycamore

Hi,

 

I am trying to draw up a felling licence for a piece of woodland on the estate where I work, but need to give a few figures to the estate owner to illustrate the value of the woodland.

 

We have about 80m3 of derelict sweet chestnut coppice and a lot of sycamore that I would like to get rid of as well as ash thinnings.

 

I would like to mill the chestnut and maybe some big clean bits of sycamore, but what is the firewood value of chestnut at the roadside and mixed ash and sycamore in surrey. Is there a difference in price.

 

Obviously it would be priced by the lorry load, but how much does a grab lorry take in m3?

 

Any advice appreciated

for chesnut might be worth something more/equivilant as chip wood?

what sort of price does it fetch? the transort will be a bit more from surrey

long time since the last load but was getting 65 roadside in tree length

Been trawling through soem other posts. Hardwood seems to go for anywhere in the £30- £70 range at the roadside, just depends on what's in it I suppose
