Hiya guys just loking for rough prices to pay for clearing wind blown timber from plantations . any advice welcomed

Give us some more details ole boy! Big diameter hung up windblown on a slope is about the worst. Sparse, small, flat windblow trees are straight forward even for a gibbon! So price's should reflect this...

trees are roughly 16-28 inches diameter at base , some are hung up well others are on the deck , alos there is a large are or miltiple wind blow , site is mainly flat but access aint to great fot a mog or forwarder . hoe this is of use , im looking at several sites so really looking for a rough costing , i obviously dont wanna offer to little and not really to experienced in pricing forrestry work

I'd be looking to pay less than standing as there is much more work and cost involved in doing it. If access for a forwarder is a pain that puts up the cost of getting it out. Is it windblown softwood?

Not all trees will need a a winch attached but if you have to do it with a turfor its a long slow process. Also the ones on the deck will more than likely need digging out to get a saw in all takes time. Even with an axe to remove some of the crappy bark you'll likely hit some crap and dull the chain.

If you get the site its worth considering getting someone in to do CS34/35 certs if you and your lads don't have them. As site to do them are hard to come by and the FC are keen for you have them to work on their sites.

thanks for your reply , CS34/35 is all sorted . im hopefull that i will be accepted to do the work . but like you say its alot of work and the timbers is more of less worthles i guess

Will you be using the wood for firewood or selling it to a mill. Did a triple chestnut windblow the other day which took the best part of 3 hours to get it ready on the winch dug out dressed and ready for the mill. They were some 80cm dbh but thats still slow going.
