Iveco 35c12 crew cab tipper

I am seeing a few of these for sale just now, 2007 models, must be some council somwhere changing-out their fleet.

 

Does anyone have any experience of the IVECO 35C12 2.3 HPI? Are they a worth-while alternative to the Transit and are there any particular known faults with the model?

 

We are looking to change-out our Transit tippers and are considering a couple of these Ivecos as replacements. Crew Cabs & normal cabs seem to be going for £7k to £7.5k + VAT.

I brought a 55 plated 35c15, it's great, and the newer model is apparently even better. Power is amazing you can't fault the 15 but it does only 19mpg.

 

They are allegedly very bad off road, read other posts. No known major faults. I had a few issues with the alarm and hence battery problems, but apart from that really pleased with not looking like all the other tree surgeons and a pikey all the time

I heard repairs can be pretty uncomfortable on the wallet as very little in the way of parts is available from anyone except dealers. Transit parts are ten a penny by comparison and usually available for peanuts on ebay.

 

The only other thing I've heard about them is "It Vibrates Everything Comes Off", but then I've also heard "F**kin Out Right Disaster"!!

hi,at a previous job i maintained 3 35c12s single cabs only major problems were broken front spring,and clutch pedal broke .parts are easy to get,not over priced and nothing vibated off!fuel consumption mind 20s , also have good chassis rails to carry the weight. would i have on..... yes. would i have a transit... no. even the local councils are leaving the transit brigade.

We have an 05 35C14 van and it's been great so far. Ours is the 3ltr and is a downrated 5 tonner so will only carry around 900 kg as 3.5 tonner but fully loaded and with 3.5 tonne behind it it pulls really well.

 

We did once load a big mini digger in the back to move across a showground and we would have been around a tonne and a half over weight (so around the 5 tonne it was originally rated at) and the springs hardly moved)

 

We were reluctant to go iveco initally but having took it out for test drive we were sold on the idea. Ours has a speed limiter fitted (70 mph) which took a bit of getting used to when overtaking on the motorway but the look on peoples faces in normal cars when you leave them behind off roundabouts is priceless. I'd guess the 120hp version won't feel much different to our 140hp as it's a lighter vehicle to start with.
