ok all,
i currently have a small husky 340 with 13 inch bar .325 pitch
it is ok but i fear that i need something with a bit more umph!!

i have got a load of oversized hardwood which i am among at the mo aswell as processer type wood to get thro.

can anyone recommend a decent saw for this type of work? i have been looking at husky 346xp and the 357xp ?

what do you guys use?

357 out of the 2 BUT personally if your ringing up all day, Id want that bit more power and get a Husky 365

i have a 340 also for doing firewood, been using it for 9 years now to do 40 tons or so a year. Often at twice bar and amazingly its still going - just keep really sharp and all is good.

Did also look at a 357 but price scared me off until the 340 goes bang and stops playing.

I have an old(ish) Dolmar PS6000i (60cc) as a dedicated firewood saw. It will run upto 20" but I have a 15" narrow kerf bar with oregon multicut chain (for any dirt on the wood). This makes it quicker as it's a heavy old thing and not high revving but perfect for taking abuse.

i personally pick up trusty old 262 but cant beat the grunt of 575 when the going gets tough on dead elm etc but like they said must be sharp and crucially depth guages set correctly

Tend to use my husky 350 mostly as its lighter and less thirsty than my 357xp, both running 18 " bars and .325 chains, although have to admit my weapon of choice before some thieving get parted me from it was my husky 372xp with 24 " bar

I use the stihl MS390. Good chogging chain and a bit of weight behind it. Only problem i find is that it drinks loads!!
