Hi all

Im looking for some advise. im wanting to buy a bench saw for cutting logs.

i will be running it either of a tractor pto or even the hydraulic take off. Which ones do you guys find best?

im swaying towards the posch range but i would also be intressted to see what everyone else uses.

Thanks

i lost a digit and a half on one of them ones when i was a boy they need 100% concentration thats for sure dont go thinking about what your going to have for tea whilst your cutting. even something a subtle as lowering the hood/top guard over the blade so theres no gap would have prevented mine.

needless to say i'm a big fan of guards these days!

my advice, start with a simple circular saw and built in splitter like a hakki pilke oh 60 or the palax combi. dont go straight in at the bottom of the range like a hakki pilke eagle theres no point unless your not bothered about splitting what you cut as the splitter quite labour intensive.

of course it all depends on what size timber you are looking to process. i've got an oh60 as most of my timber is around 10" so i didnt see the point buying something that would do 14" at this stage.

Posch is good gear, but i waited for nearly half an hour at ConFor to speaf with the posch guy, to be ignored while he had a chat with his mate. Needless to say i was NOT impresed and will NEVER consider giving my money to that company, regardless of the reputation the gear has.
