I am looking to build a website for our small log business, I have been reading through previous threads and it seems to be the general opinion that wordpress is the best for the website and 1 and 1 for hosting and the domain name

 

is this still the case or is there anything else I should be looking at before starting

I use GoDaddy for both, very easy to use for a non computer geek like me and never had any issues so far. Suppose there's loads out there

Use heart internet and wordpress. i have managed about 6 different sites on that set up

We have just moved from 1&1 after they decided to double our hosting costs without informing us until 2 days after it was due for renewal. we went to EUKhosts who were very helpful and helped us move several sites, mail server and FTP accounts over the night we decided to join them.

All the sites are still Wordpress.

Agree re 1&1 charges - I've been asking for confirmation of what I'm paying for for 8 months, but they simply will not provide a straight answer

 

They seem to be charging me more for a 'seconday' account than they are for the one I actually have the website on!

Buy the domain from whoever. Only about £7 a year. Then build or have a site built and have it hosted for around £5 a month. Practically free if you do it right
