subcontracting

i have started working for a one man band as a subcontractor

and he doesnt seem to know how this insurance thing work

i currently have 5 mil public liability but i am under the impression that when working for him if anything happens it will be claimed through his insurance as i am working under his instructions ....

 

i am also looking to take weekend work to a new level and we have come to the agreement that he will help me do the job with all his gear van e.t.c but it will be the other way round if anything happens it lies on me to deal with can you tell me if i need any other type of insurance other then public liability with cover for bonerfide contractors

The above is reasonably accurate unless you only work for him (workdays) in which case DWP holds that you should be PAYE

Yeah your pritty much right with what you said! A lot of people go on about being paye! But there's a lot of people in this industry who are self employed working for a big company etc just keep your books good and get other invoices in :)
