Just heard the cuckoo bold as brass. I can't remember hearing one last year.

Iv not heard one in years either .....used to be so persisent . is there aloss of habitat or similar ?

Used to have loads round us, now they just seem to pass through. They shoot loads in Malta and Cyprus every spring …

Saw a Green Woodpecker in the yard on Friday, first one spotted here.

I heard my first on the 9th of April. Heard him again for 2 or 3 days, since then nothing. I suppose that he's waiting for the females to arrive.

 

Chris the cuckoo (of Springwatch fame) arrived in Suffolk on the 28th of April.
