Few pics of what i do for a living! and why my saws are always broken, 2 tanks of a dolmar 7900 (20 inch bar) for this pictured sitka!

Gnerally i fell, sned out and take a 4.9 log off for the big stuff harvesters cant do.

Can i ask why you dont use a larger saw, like a Stihl MS660, or similar?

Thats an 80 cc saw with a 20 inch bar, its quicker to bore cut in 1 side and do an ark around the back of the tree. Smaller bar cuts faster uses less fuel and easier for brashing out plus easier to sharpen! arb guys tend to use bigger bars for this, cutters know how to do it properly!!!

I would imagine the same reason I wouldn't, snedding a few trees like that with a 660 would be hard work!

That's a hairy bugger. Was doing likewise myself but taking 6.2s off bottom as too big to go as 4.9s, felled with 576 on 24" and sned with 560 running 15. Awful things to do and almost a fill a tree snedding the pappy ones

That's some ugly hairy butts there. I'm tidying up a site this week and frankly leaving a lot of the triple-stemmed wolfed crap in the job; rubbish can stay there; costs more to faff about with and process than is ever worth the 0.2 of a metre of chip in it; small skinny wood with edge trees to die for lol.

i used to find with large spruce you do all the work to square up the butt and fell with a smaller bar and you drop then only to find the begger has got butt rot

more money lost !!

Our lads are using 441s with smaller bars . More power
